Situated amidst dense greenery and away from the congested market of Calangute is Pousada Tauma owned by Neville Proenca and his wife Angelica. Part of an extraordinary hotel, the interiors are balm to tired eyes. The sparkling pool with its waterfall effects, the garden and the furniture add class to the restaurant. It serves the most authentic Goan food. The chef lets you walk into the kitchen and decide on the levels of spice. The prawn balchao is the best I've had and so is the fish curry. In continental, try the brochettas and the grilled fish with steamed vegetables. Pousada is starting a Konkan menu this season. This place is worth visiting if only to experience one of the most beautiful hotels I've seen.
